The World Without People

If a virulent virus, or even the Rapture, depopulated Earth overnight, how long before all trace of humankind vanished?

Imagine if one minute from now, every single person on Earth disappeared. All 6.6 billion of us. Human history just stopped. What would happen to the world without us?

There are places in Manhattan where they’re constantly fighting rising underground rivers that are corroding the tracks. You stand in these pump rooms, and you see an enormous amount of water gushing in. And down there in a little box are these pumps, pumping it away. So, say human beings disappeared tomorrow. One of the first things that would happen is that the power would go off. A lot of our power comes out of nuclear or coal-fired plants that have automatic fail-safe switches to make sure that they don’t go out of control if no humans are monitoring their systems

Once the power goes off, the pumps stop working. Once the pumps stop working, the subways start filling with water. Within 48 hours you’re going to have a lot of flooding in New York City. Some of this would be visible on the surface. You might have some sewers overflowing. Those sewers would very quickly become clogged with debris—in the beginning the innumerable plastic bags that are blowing around the city and later, if nobody is trimming the hedges in the parks, you’re going to have leaf litter clogging up the sewers.

Many of the buildings in Manhattan are anchored to bedrock. But even if they have steel beam foundations, these structures were not designed to be waterlogged all the time. So eventually buildings would start to topple and fall.

At the other end of the chronological spectrum, anything made of bronze might survive in recognizable form for millions of years—along with one billion pounds of degraded but almost indestructible plastics manufactured since the mid-20th century.

Meanwhile, land freed from mankind’s environmentally poisonous footprint would quickly reconstitute itself, as in Chernobyl, where animal life has returned after 1986’s deadly radiation leak, and in the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea, a refuge since 1953 for the almost-extinct goral mountain goat and Amur leopard.

15 Most Creative Beds

 Magnetic Floating Bed

Designed by Dutchman Janjaap Ruijssenaars, this magnetic floating bed has enough magnets to keep 900 kilograms (1,984 pounds) floating in the air. To make sure that the bed doesn't float away because of hard wind or weird movements, it's tethered to the walls by four cables. Technically, the magnetic floating bed is for sale, but at a price of 1.2 million euros ($1.53 million), you're not likely to find it in your local mattress store.

Hamburger Bed

Haven't you ever wanted to curl up inside a juicy hamburger? No? Well, too bad. The Internet loves hamburgers and therefore the glorious Hamburger Bed has over 1,000 fans on Facebook and a sesame seed duvet.

 NapShell, an egg-like bed

You might not have realized you needed a power-napping bed – but once you have seen this futuristic creation by Napshell you’ll feel your life is totally incomplete without it. Ergonomically designed to be good for your back and spine, the Napshell bed’s super comfy shaped mattress will fit a wide range of body types and heights. Visual and acoustic elements within the bed make instant, deep relaxation possible at the press of a button. Complete with LED lights, MP3 player and sound proof walls, the Napshell is a busy businessperson’s ultimate dream come true.

 Molecular Bed

Made of 120 sofa balls covered with elastic fabric, the Feel Seating System designed by Animi Causa has a really unusual shape. It is inspired by a molecular structure, the basic form for all objects is the universe. If you are a playful person you can use it in many creative ways, because the structure of the feel allows to create multiple forms.

  Fantasy Coach, A fairytale bed

Wave your magic wand and this carriage may appear to make your little princess' dreams come true. This fanciful coach bed is the most extraordinary children's bed we've ever seen. Handcrafted in England of wood and fiberglass, the oval shaped interior measures just over 6 ft. in diameter. Construction and delivery time on this piece is over 6 months. The bar is set with this magnificent piece; it simply has no equal outside of fairy tales. Linens and interior options priced upon request. The price of a dream come true? $47,000.

Cosmovoide Bed

We spend around a third of our lives asleep... but that can't justify spending $60,000 on a bed, can it? The makers of Cosmovoide think it can. Their luxury bed is shaped like an egg (to either give you Morkian dreams, or wrap you up in cozy cosmic harmony or some such nonsense), has hammock-like suspending springs, seven rainbow-colored LEDs, a telephone, and a DVD/home theater set-up including a TV at its foot. Most fascinating? Its twin "electric relaxation bed frames," which just get the mind boggling. That price is the base model, by the way: it's customizable, according to its french manufacturers.

Quantum Sleeper, the "anti-terrorist" bed

The Quantum Sleeper is a bed that hermetically seals itself as you sleep to protect you from Bio-Chemical terrorist attack, natural disaster, kidnappers/stalkers and affords Bulletproof 'Saferoom' protection." It also has one-way mirrors so intruders can watch themselves futilely try to get in while you sit inside and call the police on your mobile, shortwave or CB radio. You can cower in style with the optional CD and DVD players and microwave oven. The price of protection? 160,000 dollars.

Private Cloud, the rocking bed

The Private Cloud, designed by Manuel Kloker, is a patented rocking frame for a bed that moves back and forth like a rocking chair. It sells for an average of about $6,800 depending on the size ordered, without the mattress.

The Scoop!

Designed by Guido Rosati for Saba Italia, Scoop! is a sophisticated and innovative answer to the demand for combinig the sofa function with the bed function. The two semi-circular sides of the bed can be separated resulting two new pieces of furniture. This bed is a great way to surprise your guests, and also you can be proud to have a stylish contemporary bed and two sofa’s in the same time.

 The Computer Bed

The computer bed is a normal bed which makes an intelligent use of the space below the bed. The gas pistons enable the bed to double up as a computer table. Invented by European designer Lino's son Francesco, this twin model comes with a reinforced metal frame in your choice of several different kinds of wood. Prices start at $3650.

The Sonic Bed

The sonic bed is a king-size bed with 12-channel surround sound. It may look like a wooden tank from the outside, but inside its got enough speakers to dwarf any home theater set up. Created by Kaffe Matthews as a museum exhibit (no plans for retail as of yet), the bed requires 220 volts of electricity and covers every inch of your body in sound.

The Lomme Bed

According to the product copy, owners of Lomme Beds will benefit from state of the art light and sound therapy, which remove outside disturbances and "allow you to wake naturally feeling refreshed and full of energy."

 BedUP, the Ceiling Bed

Coming from the house of Decadrages, the designer BedUP model offers you a perfect comfort level without occupying much space. Suspended from the ceiling, this novel furniture piece can be accommodated in 4 sq mt space of your apartment. By day, the bed is stored on the ceiling, the under-surface becomes ceiling with the possibility of integrating lighting. At night, the bed can come down in the manner of an elevator and stops at the height previously requested, thus avoiding moving furniture that would have been placed underneath it.

The Hanging Bed

Created by italian designer Andrea Lucatello, the bed is not actually hanging but, it does looks like floating on the floor. The Hanging Bed comes in two sizes, the Queen European King and Double and many colors. The gorgeous bed sells for almost $5,500 excluding the mattresses.

 Coffin Bed

The Casket Furniture Company designed a bed for those who wants to know the feeling of sleeping in a coffin. According to their site, this ‘long awaited' item can be yours for only a little over $4,000. It’s constructed of Solid Pine with a removable top and bottom and adorned with a handmade metal cross and gothic pall bearer handles. Finished with an ebony stain and lacquer with a burgandy velvet interior. Disturbingly, their site also indicated ‘locks and latches' are available at an added price.

The 50 Hottest Female Athletes Of All Time

Laure Manaudou

Laure Manaudou is a French Olympic swimmer who is a three time medalist. Manaudou has suffered through a bit of scandal after some nude pictures appeared online. Google is your friend on this one, but I’ll just say, girl is crazy ripped.

 Alina Kabayeva

What’s that they say about flexibility? That it’s never overrated? Kabayeva is a rythmic gymnast who is world renowned for her incredible flexibility. I imagine the flexibility comes in handy. Um, for the gymnastics.

Lisa Anderson

Lisa Anderson is a world champion surfer who has the hot stereotypical surfer look going on, including the sun bleached blonde hair. She’s into her 40’s now, but still competes and surfs regularly.

Missy Gibson

Missy Gibson is apparently a world class surfer, although info on her is pretty scarce online. Most people seem to mostly care about her stunning looks, which is understandable as it’s mostly what we’re concerned with here. And Gibson really is quite incredible looking.

. Laura Baugh

Baugh was named Golf Digest’s 1972 “Most Beautiful Golfer.” She eventually struggled with alcholism, four marriages, and a bleeding disorder that nearly killed her (and was brought on by her drinking), but she eventually cleaned up at Betty Ford and wrote a tell all book in 1999.

 Sasha Cohen

Just read that thing up above about flexibility again, because damn. Cohen won a silver medal in the 2006 Olympics and has since appeared on various television shows such as Las Vegas, Project Runway, and CSI:NY.

Sonja Henie

Sonja Henie was one of the biggest stars in the entire world at her height, moving from figure skating into acting, and eventually making $2 million + a year.

Anni Friesinger

Anni Friesinger is a talented German speed skater who has also spent time modeling. She’s appeared in numerous men’s magazines and has earned herself the nickname “Sexy Annie” in her home country, where they presumably care more about speed skating than we do here in America.

Erica Blasberg

Erica Blasberg is one of the hotter players on the LPGA tour, and Puma made the smart decision of making her the face of their golfing brand. She has struggled a bit on the tour, but I’m pretty sure guys still love her.

Tara Lipinski

Tara Lipinski is an American figure skater who won the gold medal in 1998 at the age of 15. To this day she’s the youngest gold medalist in Winter Olympic history.

 Picabo Street

Picabo Street was the most visible women’s skier in the 90’s winning a silver medal in the ‘94 Winter Olympics and a gold in the ‘98. She eventually retired after snapping her left femur, but was a spokeswoman for Mountain Dew for a time in the late 90’s.

Gussie Moran

Gussie Moran makes an appearance here largely for historical reasons. She’s the reason we have so many tennis hotties on this list, as she was the first woman to ever push the boundaries of fashion on the tennis court. She famously showed up to center court at Wimbledon in 1949 in a short skirt with lacy, frilly knickers peering out from the bottom, and since then clothes have only gotten tighter and shorter. God bless her.

 Gabriela Sabatini

Gabriela Sabatini was an Argentinian tennis player who had a lot of success in the late 80’s and early 90’s. She has an exotic South American look going on that is pretty hot.

Amanda Coetzer

Amanda Coetzer is the most successful tennis player in South African history. She developed a reputation during her career as a giant killer, regularly beating players ranked higher than her. She dated pro baseball player Brady Anderson for awhile in the 90’s, and is now dating a Hollywood producer named Arnon Milchan.

 Natalie Coughlin

Natalie Coughlin is an incredibly successful American swimmer who won five medals at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. She’s getting into broadcasting, and spent time as an in-studio host for MSNBC during the 2006 Winter Olympics. I know I wouldn’t mind seeing more of Coughlin, so hopefully she’ll keep that up. Does anyone else see a bit of a Scarlett Johansson resemblance?

 Swin Cash

A lot of guys treat the WNBA as a bit of a joke, but a few of the players are definitely worth watching. Swin Cash is one of those players. She led the University of Connecticut to two different national titles and carried that success into the WNBA, winning a title with Detroit in her second WNBA season. But I’m sure nobody really cares about that. Bottom line: she’s hot.

 Carling Bassett

Carling Bassett primarily made her living as a tennis player back in the 80’s, but she made just as big of a splash as a fashion model with the Ford Modeling Agency. She also made some appearances on television and in film. Bassett is now retired and operating a tennis academy with Chris Evert, someone you’ll see further up on this list.

Barbara Schett

Barbara Schett is an Austrian tennis player who played from 1992 to 2005. She’s got a rocking body, and has to be the hottest thing to ever come out of Austria.

Maria Kirilenko

Maria Kirilenko is a Russian tennis player in the mold of Maria Sharapova, only not quite there yet. She’s rapidly catching up though, having recently signed to be the face of Adidas tennis.

Cristie Kerr

Cristie Kerr is another LPGA hottie. She has appeared on an episode of The Apprentice and is said to have a close relationship with Donald Trump. Kerr is also a spokeswoman for Mutual of Omaha and Lacoste.

 Ana Paula Mancino

Ana Paula Mancino is a Brazilian volleyball player. Other than that I really have nothing, except that she’s smoking hot.

Hope Solo

Hope Solo kind of the opposite of what you’d expect a women’s soccer goalie to look like. Normally you have a mental image of a … um larger woman, but Hope is 5'9 and hot. She also has a pretty kick ass name.

 Daniela Hantuchova

Daniela Hantuchova is a Slovakian tennis player. She’s a little on the thin side, so if that’s your thing then she’s your girl. Hantuchova is pretty damn impressive off the court too, speaking six different languages as well as having been trained as a classical pianist.

. Mia Hamm

Mia Hamm is probably the most well known female soccer player of all time, and with that has come numerous endorsements. She’s now retired and married to Dodgers player Nomar Garciaparra.

Dorothy Hamill

America was in love with Dorothy Hamill in the 70’s, going so far as to make her short bobbed haircut a national fad. She won the gold medal for figure skating at the 1976 Winter Olympics.

 Gina Carano

Gina Carano is probably the most bad ass woman on this list. She’s a MMA fighter as well as one of the Gladiators on the new incarnation of American Gladiators. All I know is she’s a lot easier on the eyes than the female Gladiators we had to suffer through the last go round.

Lokelani McMichael

Lokelani McMichael is a surfer and triathlete. She is still the youngest female to ever complete the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon. She’s been featured in Shape, Triathlete, Runner’s World, and numerous other fitness magazines.

Karina Petroni

Karina Petroni is possibly the greatest female surfer in the world. She’s only 20 years old, but her attractiveness has already made her a prime endorsement candidate, and she’s the frontwoman for numerous brands, including SoBe/Pepsi and Chevrolet.

 Amanda Beard

Amanda Beard is a seven time Olympic medalist in various swimming events, but she’s just as well known for her modeling work, including appearances in Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition. She now hosts her own segment on The Best Damn Sports Show Period, and I can say from personal experience that she’s the only thing worth watching on that particular program.

Florence Griffith-Joyner

Flo-Jo became an American icon after winning the 100m sprint at the 1988 Summer Olympics. If you like a woman who’s extremely fit then Florence Griffith-Joyner is the woman for you. Even if those muscles might or might not have been steroid enhanced. After all, who wasn’t taking steroids 20 years ago? The 80’s were a crazy time.

Michelle Kwan

Michelle Kwan is probably the most overall successful figure skater in American history, and she’s also one of the greatest figure skaters of all time. She started skating when she was 8, waking up at 3 AM to practice for three to four hours a day. Like most American female figure skaters, Kwan has spent some time acting, and has even done voice work for Family Guy and The Simpsons.

Gretchen Bleiler

Gretchen Bleiler is an American snowboarder and won a silver medal in the 2006 Winter Olympics. She’s also the spokeswoman for Oakley and K2, and it’s not hard to see why a company would want to have her representing them.

Summer Sanders

Summer Sanders was a three time medalist at the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics in swimming. She has to be one of the strongest living proofs that your name can determine your destiny. Sanders has since gone on to broadcasting and acting and has hosted numerous sports related television shows.

. Heather Mitts

Heather Mitts is a great soccer player, but she also has great credentials for this list, having been voted the hottest female athlete alive in a 2004 poll run by ESPN.com. This is a girl who loves male athletes, having dated QB A.J. Feeley, tennis star James Blake, and outfielder Pat Burrell all in the past ten years. She’s single now though.

Jelena Dokic

Jelena Dokic is a Serbian tennis player who immigrated to Australia in 1994. She’s pretty curvy for a tennis player, but still features the usual awesome long legs.

 Ashley Harkleroad

Ashley Harkleroad recently made a splash by committing to appearing in Playboy magazine’s August 2008 issue. Pretty sure that’ll be a hot seller.

Kristy Yamaguchi

Kristy Yamaguchi really was US female figure skating for awhile back in the early 90’s. She recently won ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, which makes sense as dancing can’t be all that much more difficult than figure skating.

Ashley Force

I’m not entirely sure how a hot young girl gets into funny car drag racing (I’m not really sure how anyone gets into funny car drag racing), but Ashley Force definitely provides reason to watch the sport. She’s recently been featured on a reality show featuring her family called Driving Force.

 Allison Stokke

Allison Stokke is a college pole vaulter who caused a massive stir on the internet when some rather mundane competition photos of her were found online. Which is a real testament to how hot she is. Or how easily pleased and amused the internet can be, I don’t know which. But she is really ridiculously hot.

Michelle Wie

Michelle Wie hasn’t had the kind of sucess everyone expected on the LPGA tour (remember when she was supposed to be the female Tiger Woods?), but she’s still raking in the cash thanks to massive endorsements with companies like Nike and Sony. She’s been the source of quite a bit of controversy for stuff like “inappropriate” clothing and phantom injuries, but I have to say I’m a fan. Probably mostly because of the inappropriate clothing.

 Peggy Fleming

Peggy Fleming was a figure skater in the 60’s, winning a gold medal at the 1968 Winter Olympics. She parlayed her good looks into a job commentating on figure skating events that she held for over 20 years, including several Winter Olympic games. Fleming is now a breast cancer activist after successfully battling the disease in the late 90’s.

 Maria Sharapova

Maria Sharapova is absolutely stunning, but she’s also a phenomenal athlete which makes her all the more attractive. While some women make this list almost primarily for their looks, Sharapova is just as noteworthy for her career achievements. Watching her play is always an enjoyable experience.

 Gabrielle Reece

Gabrielle Reece was named by ELLE magazine as one of the five most beautiful Women in the World in 1989. Even though she was a very talented beach volleyball player, Reece was probably more well known for her modeling and television work. Most people who grew up watching MTV in the early 90’s will remember her as host of MTV Sports.

. Danica Patrick

Danica Patrick is so hot she makes people care about IndyCar racing, at least for one weekend a year. That’s a hell of an achievement and pretty much enough said.

 Biba Golic

I feel pretty comfortable saying that Biba Golic is the hottest table tennis player to ever live. She’s also the only table tennis player I’ve ever technically heard of, but I’m still willing to bet she’s the hottest.

Jennie Finch

Softball players don’t immediately come to mind when you think of hot female athletes, but Jennie Finch is definitely the exception. Probably for that reason, she’s the most famous softball player of all time. Finch has appeared in SI’s swimsuit issue and won an online ESPN.com poll naming her hottest female athlete.

 Chris Evert

Chris Evert is one of the most popular women athletes the United States has ever had. Her nickname for quite awhile was actually “Chrissy America”. She was linked to damn near every high profile actor and athlete in the 70’s (including Burt Reynolds, Geraldo Rivera, Adam Faith, Vitas Gerulaitis, Pat Boone, and John Gardner “Jack” Ford, son of U.S. President Gerald Ford) and even hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live.

Anna Kournikova

Anna Kournikova would probably break the internet if she ever posed nude. She gets slammed unfairly for being a poor tennis player (she’s never won a singles tournament), but she was at times one of the best doubles players in the world, even reaching #1 at various times.

 Katarina Witt

Katarina Witt appeared in Playboy in December of 1998. It was the second issue of Playboy to ever sell out, the first being the inaugural issue featuring Marilyn Monroe.

 Natalie Gulbis

Possibly a controversial choice, but Gulbis is ridiculously, ridiculously hot. Female golfers have come a long way in perceived attractiveness in the past ten years, and Gulbis is leading the way, having sold a personal calendar as well as posing in magazines like FHM.

Amazing IMAX Underwater Photography

King Of The Sea
Think there’s no mystery left in the world? These images from Under the Sea 3D (now playing in IMAX theaters) might change your mind. Directed by underwater filmmaker Howard Hall, the film involved more than 350 hours of diving and 110 days at sea, topped off by the task of transporting, assembling, and breaking down more than 8,000 pounds of specialized equipment. These images represent some of the best stills from the film.

This venomous species of lionfish was discovered only two years ago off the coast of Indonesia. A sting from any one of its 18 dorsal fins can cause nausea and breathing difficulties, though it won’t kill you. The lionfish uses its fins to back shrimp, crabs, and smaller fish into a corner, and then swallows the prey in one quick strike. The crew was able to nab this shot because the subject was busy at dinner.

Look At Me, I’m Beautiful
This breathtaking octopus, first discovered a few years ago, does a pinwheel-like somersault in the waters of Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea. The wunderpus most resembles the mimic octopus, though its white markings are unique to the species.

It was given the name Wunderpus photogenicus because the photographer and scientists found that the species could mimic most of its predators, including lionfish and mantis shrimps, as a means of defense.

Another unique trait is its elusiveness: It took the crew six hours to capture this shot.

 I’m Ready For My Close-Up
Hiding among the rocks off the coast of Papua New Guinea, this crocodilefish proved dangerous when it lunged directly at the camera lens in pursuit of a blue chromis, a type of damselfish.

The crocodilefish gets its name from its flat head and intricate skin pattern that resembles a crocodile’s tough hide. The fish’s camouflage, including the iris lappets over its eyes, helps it sneak up on its next meal.

Enjoy It Now—It’s Going Fast
This gorgeously soft coral was shot in Papua New Guinea, part of a vast region known as the Coral Triangle, which encompasses the waters of Indonesia and the Philippines and extends as far as the Solomon Islands.
This area is home to approximately 40 percent of the world’s reef wildlife population, including more than 75 percent of coral species and some 3,000 individual species of fish, as well as sea turtles, mollusks, crustaceans, and marine mammals.

Unfortunately for coral reefs (and for us), they face a serious risk from climate change—experts estimate that as much as

Proceed With Caution

The venomous scorpionfish can be easily mistaken as part of the ocean floor. But beware its spiny head and body: Each spine is covered with venom that can seriously wound any creature that goes near it. Once injected, the fish’s venom can cause intense swelling, nausea, seizures, and paralysis—all of which meant that the divers needed to take care when approaching it.

Snuggled In The Coral
Seen here in the tropical waters near Papua New Guinea, anemonefish usually live where they are born. The species gets its name from the hue of its skin, as well as where it makes its home.

The anemonefish has to first acclimate itself to living with an anemone by adjusting to the anemone's stinging tentacles, which protect the fish from predators.

You Lookin’ At Me?
This species, seen here at Dinah’s Beach in Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea, is twice the size of its California cousin. Its relatively small claws carry amazing power: One claw is strong enough to break the glass of an aquarium in a single strike.

This shrimp toyed with the film crew, faking an emergence from its den only to hurry back inside. They finally nabbed this shot when the shrimp came out to spear its dinner and quarrel with a cardinalfish.

If Bruce Banner Were A Fish

Of the approximately 100 species of cuttlefish, the giant is (unsurprisingly) the world’s largest. This one, filmed near Whyalla, South Australia, is in the middle of a mating ritual, showing off its ability to display an entire color spectrum on its skin. As the crew was returning to the boat, one member yelled that he’d spotted the cuttlefish. So they grabbed fresh tanks and went back down for more than 5 hours.

The cuttlefish’s colors can change based on whether it is experiencing aggression, fear, or sexual excitement; Hall even remembers seeing one go from ivory to bright red after eating a passing fish. Of course, nature isn’t without a sense of humor: Despite all of these color changes, the giant cuttlefish is color-blind.

Where’s Waldo?
No, it’s not a piece of coral. The leafy sea dragon, related to the seahorse, lives among the kelp and uses its distinct camouflage to protect itself from predators.

Despite its intimidating name, this creature was one of the safest the crew came across, since its mouth contains no teeth: The dragon eats by sucking its food through its tube snout.

Survival Of The Oldest
Like many of the marine species in the South Pacific, the green sea turtle is endangered—though it gets extra points for longevity, given that the species has been here since the dinosaurs. Here’s one munching on the tentacles of a glowing jellyfish in the Great Barrier Reef. Lucky for the turtle, it’s immune to the jellyfish’s sting.

Ghost In The Cassette

Not sure what to do with your old tape? Well, painter and sculptor Erika Iris Simmons a.k.a. iRI5 has come up with a very creative solution: tape pictures. See for yourself how Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison look in tape and other artworks by Simmons.

A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor’s in Russian, Simmons is now a freelance artist and currently lives in Georgia. Apart from her own art, she also works on commercial projects. She says about her work on her website: “iRI5 has developed an innovative style that focuses on recycling found materials, such as old cassettes and used books, turning trash into treasure.”

From the “Ghost in the Machine” series: Bob Dylan

Don’t think that Simmons has used a black marker to help her tape collages - no, if you look closely, you can see that even Dylan’s jacket is made up of lines of cassette tape!

Context is everything when looking at Simmons’ collages. She is detail-oriented and incorporates scenes or artworks from the lives of the person she’s portraying into her work. Her series “Ghost in the Machine” is a number of portraits of musicians made out of recycled cassette tapes. Knowing Simmons’ attention to detail, she probably made Jimi Hendrix’s portrait from an old cassette of his, Bob Dylan’s from an original tape, and so on.

Jim Morrison, charismatic singer of the Doors, as never seen before:

Here’s a collage of Ian Curtis, late singer of Joy Division. Simmons used parts of the lyrics from his song “Passover” for the collage: “I think the words lend a beautiful metaphor to the actual life of the singer, who sadly suffered from depression and committed suicide. But, I hope, it sounds ironically optimistic.”

And Salvador Dali, composed out of parts of his own paintings:

Here’s Barack Obama, made up of scenes from his life:

Astonishingly Tiny Handmade Sculptures

 David and a Fly Goliath

A native of Birmingham, England, Willard Wigan has spent his whole life thinking small. Since the age of five, when he began building houses for ants, Wigan has obsessively produced microsculptures, fully sculpted scenes far too small to be seen with the naked eye. "I wanted to do the smallest biggest thing ever," Wigan says.

He has produced more than a hundred scenes, including the characters of the Wizard of Oz, The Lloyd's of London building, and the Statue of Liberty, all of which could fit comfortably on the head of a pin.

Tiny Titanic

It takes Wigan two to three months to produce one of his miniature masterpieces. He makes his works out of materials like a grain of sand, a flake of gold, or a microscopic piece of nylon.

To carve a rigid material like sand, Wigan says he uses as his chisel a sharp shard of diamond or some other hard gem stuck to the end of a needle. He has to look through a microscope to see his sculpture.

Charlie Chaplin, the Littlest Tramp

Making microsculptures requires a nearly superhuman level of patience, skill, and also training. To avoid any false moves, Wigan says he taught himself to slow his heart rate and then move only between the beats. To develop perfectly smooth hand motion, he practiced balancing ball bearings on his fingertips.

Through the Eye of a Needle

As a boy, Wigan heard the Bible story in which Jesus says that it would be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God. So he decided to see just how difficult that would be and sculpted a camel the size of a needle's eye.

Today all his microsculptures are about this size—fractions of a millimeter across. Figures within a given sculpture could be three times smaller than the period at the end of this sentence.

Much Smaller Than Bite-Sized

Wigan works in isolated places or at night, because even the vibrations caused by cars driving by outside can interfere with his work. Despite all his care, he still accidentally swallowed several sculptures while making them.

"The process is not enjoyable," he says of his art.

Flies Painted With Flies
Wigan's works aren't just carved; they're painted as well. To place pigment on such a small scale, he uses a hair from a fly's back as his paintbrush. In this case, he used flies to paint flies.

Adventures in Wee-Land
Of all the sculptures, this is Wigan's favorite. Completed about a year ago, the piece shows the Mad Hatter's tea party in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, a story whose characters can shrink to minute sizes.

It's no surprise that a man obsessed with minutia would love Alice's tale—it's a children's story, he says, and children understand being small.

Teeny Table for Two

Famous scenes and people aside, Wigan says he often find inspiration for sculptures in everyday life—lovers having a picnic or a man walking his dog.

Currently, he's working on two new pieces. One is the Queen's carriage, complete with eight horses; the other is a white tiger.

Divorced, Behead, Died, Divorced, Beheaded, Survived

Wigan gets much of his inspiration from things British—Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, the Queen's carriage, Henry VIII and his six wives—and the artist's works reside in his home country, too. The David Lloyd Group of Surrey, U.K., holds most of Wigan's collection, which is insured for £11.2 million—about $22 million.

The Man behind the Microsculptures

Now 57 years old, Wigan has completed 102 pieces. Still, many viewers of his collection can't believe their eyes, and they often try to check the back of the microscope to make sure they're not being had.

"People think of it as a trick or an illusion," he says. They're simply seeing the apex of human patience and skill.

 First Up, Trees....

And Then The Mother Of All Knit Graffiti Projects...

This old abandoned gas station in Syracuse, New York, was knit graffitied to within an inch of its life after a worldwide effort was initiated by Artist Jennifer Marsh. Over 3'000 panels were stitched together to cover the building and not even the pumps were left uncovered.

Top 10 Sexually Charged Late Night Interviews Of All Time

As we look forward to the multitude of possibilities in 2009, it's important to keep in mind that the future, while exciting, is difficult to predict. We can approach our goals with a carefully plotted precision, but even in the most calculated circumstances, sometimes things go horribly wrong. Take late night talk shows for example. The hosts do their best to keep the shows funny while maintaining the standards and practices enacted by the FCC, but that doesn’t mean they always maintain control. Sometimes the proverbial “crap” simply hits the fan.

In the spirit of hitting the fan in 2009, I’ve compiled an ultimate list of talk show interviews that go from completely innocent to sexually charged in the blink of an eye. Whether the transitions are the result of a single dirty comment, a series of inappropriate gestures, or a full-on strip show, nobody could have planned these interviews in advance. So put on your headphones, tilt your screen away from the boss' office, and enjoy the most sexually charged interviews (that are still SFW) in late night television history.

10. Jane Fonda
The Show: The Colbert Report
The Year: 2007
It takes a special kind of guest to catch Stephen Colbert off-guard. (Bear with me on calling Colbert a late night talk show host.) His sharp wit keeps him three or four steps ahead of typical guests, whether they're actors, writers, scientists or politicians. In this particular interview, however, actress Jane Fonda

9.Martha Stewart
The Show: The Tonight Show with Jay Leno
The Year: 2008
Sometimes a host wants to have a sexually charged moment with a guest, you know, as a joke. But sometimes the guest doesn't fully understand the joke. Here’s the scene: Jay Leno and Martha Stewart are cooking in the kitchen on Jay's show. Jay starts making awkward sexual advances on Martha. Martha recoils in horror and starts cooking faster and more erratically. Jay advances, Martha retreats. It's almost like watching Ape Week on Animal Planet. Finally, after a series of under the table sexual remarks, Leno tries to steal a kiss, and the onslaught of awkwardness comes to a close.

You can watch Conan O’Brien succeed where Leno failed below.

8. Rebecca Romijn-Stamos
The Show: Late Night with Conan O'Brien
The Year: 1998
Even funny man Conan O'Brien doesn't always keep his cool. Midway through his 1998 interview with Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, the actress decides to indulge Andy Richter and Conan in a popular party game: they pass a piece of paper from one person's lips to the other without dropping the paper. All is going well until Conan drops the paper and goes in for a kiss. Rebecca laughs and decides to kiss him. Conan pauses for a moment, then goes absolutely insane: he screams, convulses, and basically throws the ultimate tantrum of testosterone. If John Stamos, Rebecca’s husband, had actually been in the room, Conan probably would have fought him. No guarantees on the win, but it would have been a good fight.

7. Dyan Cannon
The Show: The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson
The Year: 1982
Johnny Carson was known for keeping his demeanor cool and his show classy. Even when he had his back against the wall or a small monkey on his head, Carson knew how to exit a situation gracefully. Therefore, it’s a rare and enjoyable moment when his drooling over Dyan Cannon builds to a stupor that’s only interrupted by Cannon's mention of how much time she has been spending with Carson's wife. It's especially funny if you consider the fact that their tension might have been part of an often-rumored affair.

6. Salma Hayek
The Show: Late Show with David Letterman
The Year: 2006
Letterman usually has a quip for every comment that comes out of his guests’ mouths. But in his 2006 interview with Salma Hayek, as she discusses the development of her well-endowed chest area, it’s visibly difficult for him to put together a one-liner. Which really isn’t a problem with me: if Salma wants to talk about her girls, then by golly, let her talk about her girls. No jokes needed

5. Izabel Goulart
The Show: Late Night with Conan O'Brien
The Year: 2006
As soon as supermodel Izabel Goulart offers her cheek for Conan to kiss in their 2006 interview, he's irrevocably smitten. Next, when she tells him that she's looking for a guy like him, his brain almost melts. Maybe Goulart is just a great actress and the flirting is all an act, but her hair twirling is believable enough for Conan and the audience to hang on her every word. Although Conan is supposedly a happily married man, at least a small part of him must have wished he were single for a night. Watch the steamy video here.

4. Sarah Silverman
The Show: Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The Year: 2008
In the now infamous interview with her then-boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel, comedian Sarah Silverman premieres a video wherein she jokingly reveals that she's breaking up with him. The reason? She's been having an affair with Matt Damon for the past few weeks. Matt Damon cameos as himself, singing smugly about how great he is in bed. Kimmel’s expression toward Sarah at the end of the video thinly masks his irritation, and while he tries to hold it back, you can tell he's ready to burst as soon as he cuts to commercial.

3. Dolly Parton
The Show: The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson
The Year: 1977
Without revealing too much, this is undoubtedly one of my favorite late night clips of all time. Not only is there a slow build to Carson's amusingly raunchy outburst, but Dolly Parton is setting herself up for it the entire time. It's incredible to see Johnny Carson say something so lewd on his own show because he was well known for his generally respectful conduct. Granted, the conversation started out on breasts and ends on breasts, so there weren’t many clean places Johnny could take it.

As for Parton, it seems she became increasingly accustomed to the limelight that her "healthiness" provided her as she got older. Here’s a clip from a 2008 Leno appearance that’s simultaneously intriguing and downright unholy.

2. Drew Barrymore
The Show: Late Show with David Letterman
The Year: 1995
In a way, this video is the reason for this list's existence. Few late night talk show moments are as memorable (or as commonly searched for on Youtube) as this one. Drew Barrymore not only climbs on top of Letterman's desk to perform a table dance, but she also flashes him her breasts before descending back to her seat. Though the clip doesn't show you the preceding action, it's clear from Letterman's expression that nothing in the world could have prepared him for a mid-show striptease.

1. Jane Fonda
The Show: The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson
The Year: 1989
It just wouldn't be a historically accurate survey of sexually charged late night interviews with only one Jane Fonda showcase. In this clip, Fonda invents a fictional story about Zsa Zsa Gabor, the Hungarian born actress and socialite, just so she can make an incredibly dirty joke on the air. In our modern world of South Park and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, this sort of explicit language might not be quite so shocking, but when this episode of Carson's show first aired, a "cat joke" like Fonda's was completely off the wall.
Adding to the humor, Johnny Carson neither confirms nor denies the validity of Fonda's story, even though it is patently false. Carson refuses to respond, hoping that his silence will somehow to salvage the show. Perhaps there’s a twinkle in his eye that suggests Carson would love to join in the laughter, but as a generally classy guy he holds down the fort and maintains composure. If raunchy wordplay is your cup of tea, consider this the foundation for years of hilarious television vulgarity to come.

World's Craziest Body Paintings

40 Hottest Victoria’s Secret Models Of All Time

 Veronika Varekova

Varekova has made eight appearances in SI’s swimsuit issue (you’ll find as we go on into this list that there’s a ton of overlap between the SI swimsuit issue and Victoria’s Secret models, which is the way it should be of course) including a cover in 2004.

 Shiraz Tal

Tal has been retired for awhile, but was a huge model earlier this decade, including a stint as the face of Hanes. She also competed in an early season of Dancing With The Stars.

Jessica White

Jessica White is a budding supermodel. She has been called “the model of her generation” by Tyra Banks, and became the first African-American model to appear in three consecutive SI swimsuit issues in 2005.

Nadine Strittmatter

Strittmatter is probably better known in Europe where she’s appeared on numerous magazine covers, including Maxim-Italy.

Nichole Robinson

Robinson is Panamanian-American, and dated South Park creator Trey Parker a few years back. Lucky guy.

Amanda Marcum

Marcum comes straight out of the heartland, born and bred in Oklahoma. She’s appeared on the cover of Stuff magazine and in advertising campaigns for many clothing lines including Tommy Hilfiger and Armani.

Angela Lindvall

Another Sooner (born in Midwest City, Oklahoma), Lindvall signed with the powerhouse modeling agency IMG when she was just 14 years old. She’s appeared in every Victoria’s Secret fashion show since 2001.

Jessica Van Der Steen

Van Der Steen is a Belgian fashion model, and is actually currently working with Victoria’s Secret. She’s also an SI swimsuit alum.

Anne Vyalitsyna

Vyalitsyna is Russian, and started modeling at the age of 15 after being discovered by IMG scouts.

Eugenia Silva

Silva is a Spanish model that has appeared on countless magazine covers. She currently works with Victoria’s Secret and she’s also the face of the Oscar de la Renta perfume So.

Andi Muise

Muise was discovered in a shopping mall at the age of 14 in Canada. Muise recently appeared in a season finale of Project Runway.

Candice Swanepoel

Swanepoel is a South African model who was discovered in a flea market of all places. She’s appeared in advertisements for Nike as well as working for Victoria’s Secret.

 Miranda Kerr

Kerr is a huge part of Victoria’s Secret advertising, as she’s one of the Victoria’s Secret angels. Kerr is Australian and entered the fashion world after winning a modeling contest sponsored by Dolly magazine.

Josie Maran

Maran is a model, but she’s also just as known for acting having appeared in movies such as Van Helsing and The Aviator. She also appeared on Dancing with the Stars, but only made it through one episode before being voted off.

Karolina Kurkova

Another Victoria’s Secret Angel, Kurkova hails from the Czech Republic. She’ll be appearing as Cover Girl in the live action GI Joe movie coming out next year.

 Brooklyn Decker

Decker is a nice midwestern girl, coming from Kettering, Ohio. Which is interesting, because I grew up in Ohio and don’t remember meeting any girls like Brooklyn Decker. She was discovered in a shopping mall in North Carolina (which is apparently how 95% of all fashion models get started), and began her career as the face of a prom dress company.

 Izabel Goulart

Goulart is Brazilian, and another Victoria’s Secret Angel. She’s also well known for her work with Armani. Goulart has done a little acting in her time, having made a cameo appearance on the show Entourage.

Jarah Mariano

Mariano is Hawaiian, but grew up in California. She’s modeled for Abercrombie and appeared in SI’s swimsuit edition in addition to her work with Victoria’s Secret.

Selita Ebanks

Another Victoria’s Secret Angel, Ebanks grew up relative poverty in the Cayman Islands. She was discovered at the age of 17 at a Six Flags amusement park. Ebanks was engaged to rapper Nick Cannon before he moved on to marry Mariah Carey.

 Karen Mulder

Karen Mulder was a famous fashion model in the early 90’s, before kind of going into a downward spiral that eventually bottomed out with a suicide attempt in 2002. In her brighter days Mulder worked with many famous designers and appeared on the covers of many famous magazines such as Vogue.

Ujjwala Raut

Raut is an Indian model who’s appeared in campaigns for virtually every clothing line out there, including H&M and Gap. She has a young daughter named Ksha.

Natasha Poly

A Russian model who’s full name is actually Natalia Polevshchikova, which makes you understand why she’s shortened it to Natasha Poly. Poly makes $70k a day when shooting advertisements, which isn’t too bad since the requirements are mostly standing around looking hot.

Daniela Urzi

Urzi is an Argentinian model. She has been attached to John Stamos in the past and has appeared in campaigns for Armani and Burberry, as well as Victoria’s Secret.

Kim Smith

Smith has worked for Guess as well as Victoria’s Secret. She appeared in Catwoman alongside Halle Berry, and has also starred in numerous music videos including NSync’s “Bye, bye, bye”. Don’t hold that against her though.

Ana Hickmann

Hickmann was once listed in Guinness as the model with the longest legs in the world (they really make up some goofy categories) with legs measuring 48 inches long (she is 6ft 1' tall). Hickmann was married way back in 1998 when she was only 16 years old.

 Ana Claudia Michels

Michels is a Brazilian model who has been working since she was 14 years old. Has worked for Calvin Klein in addition to Victoria’s Secret.

Ana Beatriz Barros

Another Brazilian model, Barros has worked with Guess, Bebe, Chanel, and of course Victoria’s Secret. Has made a whopping seven appearances in SI’s swimsuit issue.

Daniela Pestova

Pestova is a Czech model who is famous for her multiple SI swimsuit issue appearances as well as her work with L’Oreal and numerous magazine covers including Elle, Glamour, and GQ.

Jaime King

Quite possibly the most famous model turned actress in the world. Has starred in numerous films including Pearl Harbor, Sin City, and Bulletproof Monk.

Helena Christensen

All you need to know: Helena was the girl in the Chris Isaak “Wicked Game” video. For that video alone Christensen is probably one of the hottest women in the world, let alone hottest Victoria’s Secret model.

 Estella Warren

Not only is Warren a well known fashion model, she’s a national Canadian synchronized swimming champion. Multi-talented, honestly not something you can say about most fashion models.

 Niki Taylor

Niki Taylor is one of the original models considered to be super models. Appeared on the cover of Vogue at the age of 14, and has since appeared on more than 400 magazine covers in total.

 Tyra Banks

Tyra Banks is inescapable these days, with her talk show as well as America’s Next Top Model. Tyra’s TV career actually began on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air where she played Will Smith’s old friend Jackie Ames.

Stephanie Seymour

Another massively famous supermodel, Seymour has appeared on over 300 magazine covers. A serial dater back in the early 90’s, Seymour was attached to various famous men such as Warren Beatty and Axl Rose.

Rebecca Romijn

Romijn is obviously one of the msot famous models in the world, but she’s just as well known for her acting work in movies such as the X-Men franchise as well as the television show Ugly Betty.

Petra Nemcova

Nemcova was the cover girl for the 2003 edition of Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue. Nemcova is a survivor of the Thailand tsunami that struck in December of 2004. She suffered a broken pelvis and internal injuries but clung to the top of a palm tree for over eight hours before being rescued. So she’s pretty hard core for a Victoria’s Secret model.

Olga Kurylenko

Kurylenko is probably best known for being the Bond girl in Quantum of Solace. She also just recently appeared on the cover of Maxim for their December, 2008 edition.

Molly Sims

Sims has appeared in SI’s swimsuit issue numerous times, hosted MTV’s House of Style in 2006, and was the face of Old Navy for their “You gotta get this look!” campaign. She also starred in the NBC show Las Vegas.

Claudia Schiffer

One of the most famous models ever, Schiffer has appeared on over 500 magazine covers and has pitched a wide variety of products, from Pepsi to Chanel.

Angie Everhart

Angie Everhart started life humbly, graduating from Firestone High School in Akron, Ohio where she was a cheerleader and school mascot before being discovered by a local modeling agency. Everhard has appeared in numerous films and reality television shows and has also dated quite a few famous personalities including Howard Stern and Joe Pesci.

15 Coolest Bookshelves

The Inverted Bookshelf

The inverted bookshelf turns a bit of your living room upside down as it hangs all of the books from the bottom instead of supporting them from below. It's a satisfying optical trick and doesn't damage any of the books. In fact, you can take books in and out of it whenever you want.

 The Chair Bookshelf

This bookshelf/chair was made by Elie Nehme and Mani Mani, a couple of young canadian designers from the Fishbol Design Atelier.

The Movement Bookshelf

The Movement Bookshelf, by Samulnoli, is about hugging your books! It includes a arrangement of bent nails which can be shaped in the form of legs and arms, acting as book holders, grabbing your books.

 The Sexy Bookshelf

There is absolutely no doubt that sex sells like nothing else on the planet and is the most searched item on the Internet. Designer Arun Kumar Francis has taken that obsession a step further and nailed it quite stylishly on the living room in the form of a cool little bookshelf. The bold and innovative design borrows quite obviously from the three letter word and the design has a very uncomplicated and ergonomic feel about it. You can of course store all kinds of books in there, but maybe a version of the ‘Kamasutra’ would go perfectly with all the sexiness in the air. Isn’t it?

 The Equation Bookshelf

The Equation Bookshelf was designed by Marcos Breder and is a simple idea of to divide things in priority order. As you can see the design is quite unique, stylish and original. You can put together the books that you need immediately or more important between (parentheses) or maybe a photo, or something important for you to be the focal point of this bookselhf. Set others between [square brackets] and {braces}

The Infinity Bookshelf

The creator is the dutch conceptual artist Job Koelewijn. The shape of the Bookshelf is a lemniscate—a figure 8 and the mathematical symbol of infinity, which is so perfectly combined with the notion of the infinite potential and lasting power of books.

 The Circular Bookshelf

There are a lot of unusual bookshelf designs but no other one where you can "roll" up with a good book. Here’s a circular bookshelf by designer Zhdanova Irina. Her design also comes with a set of sofas that can be stored as a matching ring.

 The Bookshelf with a Bench

This design might look cool for the eye, but it isn’t sure that you can stay too relaxed in that space. The Shelves with a Bench was designed by Stanislav Katz, a designer from Latvia with lots of playful design ideas.

The Pulse Bookshelf

Swedish designer MĂĄns Salomonsen created this awesome pulse bookshelf shaped like a heartbeat in an electrocardiogram.

 The Bookman

The Bookman is a bookshelf in the shape of a man and is a highly decorative piece of furniture as well as a sculpture. Designed by East Anglian artist Kazmierz Szmauz who also designed the CDMan, the DVDMan and Videoman. The Bookman holds about 100 books.

 Lovely Rita Bookshelf

Lovely Rita is an unusual bookshelf. At a first glance just arranging books on this bookshelf could be a real adventure. Lovely Rita can live as a single shelf or be repeated endlessly by combining additional units, becoming a bookshelf of the desired length. Thanks to its special shape, it allows two different figures to be designed on the wall, according to the direction of fixing.

The Neverending Bookshelf

The Neverending bookshelf, made out of Corian by Italian designers Luca Nichetto and Andreoli.

The Staircase Bookshelf

Tom Sloan at Levitate Architects came up with a neat solution to a storage problem in this London Victorian apartment: He created a ’secret’ staircase, hidden from the main reception room, to access a new loft bedroom lit by roof lights.

The Autumn Bookshelf

Autum is a shelving system that gives a new take on the standard bookshelf. It is uniquely designed to give the effect of a leafless tree. It is a nice change from ordinary bookshelves and it offers loads of possibilities. The Autum bookshelf measures at 25Wx100Dx200H in a single unit, but it can be paired with more to make it larger as shown above with 3 units. A wonderful idea by designers David Sanchez & PCM

 The Rainbow Bookshelf

This is an impressive example of organizing books by color. It’s a very good way of changing the whole aspect of a bookshelf with a little bit of creativity.

Play boy Playmates & Jane’s Addiction Rock the Rabbit @ SXSW 2009 [PICS]

It’s no secret that Playboy and C3 know how to throw one helluva a SXSW shindig, but Thursday night’s Rock The Rabbit After Hours Party was the end-all-be-all. I mean, hanging with eight Playmates in an abandoned grocery store with an endless supply of BBQ and swill may be a little less than commonplace, but seeing the original Jane’s Addiction lineup shred balls from the dairy isle was definitely a first. Sure, I was a bit apprehensive that a grown-up Jane’s (minus the addiction) might be better suited as the opener on a Styx/Def Leppard parking lot double bill, but the boys brought it and brought it bigger than ever, busting out nine aggressively explosive pre-1990’s classics. Thank you Jane’s for leaving the steel drum and the slow karaoke anthems back in 1997 where they belong.

19 Hot-Headed Athletes From Past and Present

Nothing spices up athletic competition like a good fight. Whether you’re a fan of hockey (a sport practically built on fighting), football, basketball, baseball or
soccer, the sudden outbreak of violence ratchets up the energy level and draws the interest of everyone. Even non-sports fans are glued to the screen when a fight happens. There’s just something about hot-headed athletes duking it out that arrests our attention. However, in the long-standing tradition of hot-headed athletes, a few stand out. Their fights were either so incredible (or so frequent) that fans associate the athlete with his fights first, and his play second. This article celebrates 19 of these hot-headed athletes, the cream of the crop from both past and present.

 Ron Artest

Ron Artest was one of the sparkplugs behind the now-infamous Detroit Pistons vs. Indiana Pacers slugfest from 2004, which commentator Bill Walton lamented as “a low moment in NBA history.” It all started when Artest fouled Ben Wallace from behind. Wallace did not react favorably to the hard foul and retaliated by shoving Artest clear across the court. What unfolded was, as ESPN’s Steve Berthiaume called it, “one of the ugliest incidents of player/fan violence that we’ve even seen in this country.” The fight between Artest and Wallace exploded into an arena-wide brawl that saw Artest assaulting a fan who threw a cup of beer at him. Although the game was just 45 seconds from being over, officials quickly called it off once fans began storming the court and throwing bottles at the players.

ron artest fight

 Chris Benoit

During his storied career in professional wrestling, Chris Benoit acquired the nickname “the rabid wolverine.” He was a fierce competitor known for his unsurpassed technical ability and refusal to give any less than 100% in the ring. Unfortunately, it appears that Benoit took his athletic tenacity much too far. On June 25, 2007, it was discovered that Benoit had killed his wife, son, and eventually himself in an apparent case of “roid rage.” Benoit was found to be taking anabolic steroids and other performance enhancing drugs to stay in top wrestling shape, which many doctors theorize is what led him to kill his family. Benoit’s case of athletic hot-headedness is undoubtedly the most cruel and heinous on our list.

Latrell Sprewell

Latrell Sprewell is best known for choking PJ Carlesimo, his head coach with the NBA’s Golden State Warriors. The incident occured at a team practice in 1997 and cost Sprewell dearly: an 82 game suspension handed down from NBA comissioner David Stern, his $6.4 million salary for the season, and his shoe deal with Converse. According to Wikipedia, Sprewell later said that he would’ve continued choking and possibly killed Carlesimo if his teammates had not pulled him away. Sprewell would never play for the Warriors again, but did go on to have a successful career and somewhat rehabilitate his image.

John McEnroe

John McEnroe is now famous for his many temper tantrums and outbursts at officials during tennis matches. This video shows McEnroe in vintage fiesty form, slamming his tennis racket down on the clay and verbally assaulting the official for ruling a play against him. After after being penalized, McEnroe can be heard sniping “you’re so full of shit” and other obscenities. Tennis fans are divided on McEnroe’s outspoken and occasionally outrageous style of play. Some welcome it, saying it is evidence of his passion, while others say it taints the integrity of the sport.

 O.J. Simpson

Not every hot-headed athlete’s aggression manifests on the playing field. That seems to be the case with O.J. Simpson, the NFL Hall of Famer who retired as the league’s 2nd all-time leading rusher (he is now 16th.) Simpson’s fall from grace began in 1994, when he was named as a suspect in the murder of his wife (Nicole Brown Simpson) and her friend, Ronald Goldman. Simpson was famously found not guilty of the two murders despite overwhelming evidence in what has been called “the trial of the century”, an injustice which many feel is now being remedied by Simpson’s upcoming 05DEC08 sentencing for armed robbery charges.

 Mike Tyson

“Iron” Mike Tyson is a fiery athlete even non-sports fans know. His hot-headed claim to fame is biting off a chunk of Evander Holyfield’s ear during a 1997 boxing match, which Tyson claimed was retaliation for Holyfield headbutting him. Nevada’s state boxing comission immediately filed Tyson $3 million, causing him to issue an apology for the incident and beg to not be banned for life from boxing. While Tyson did indeed live to “fight another day”, he was never able to shake the stigma of “that guy who bit off that dude’s ear.”

Izzy Alcantara

Professional baseball players react differently to pitchers throwing the ball “inside”, or close to them. Good-natured players dive out of the way, dust themselves off, and get back into the batter’s box. Players with less humility might send an evil glare out to the pitcher’s mound. But nobody was prepared for Izzy Alcantara’s reaction to being pitched inside. When Alcantara found himself brushed back by the opposing pitcher of a minor league game in July 2001, he promptly turned around, karate-kicked the catcher in the face, and charged the pitcher’s mound in a violent rage. Unfortunately for him, Alcantara was quickly outnumbered by players of the opposing team and tackled to the ground.

Nolan Ryan

A notorious hot-head and relentless competitor, Nolan Ryan was involved in one of Major League Baseball’s most epic brawls. After plunking opposing batter Robin Ventura in the back with a fastball, Ventura charged the mound looking for retribution. What he got instead was put in a headlock by Ryan, repeatedly pounded in the face and tackled to the ground in a huge mob of players from both teams (some trying to break up the fight and some trying to participate in it.) It is astonishing how the then-45 year old Ryan was still fearless and adept enough to completely dominate the much younger Ventura.

Roger Clemens

Roger Clemens has a well-earned reputation as a “head-hunter”, or a pitcher who throws hard at a batter’s head to back him off the plate. What we didn’t know (until game 2 of the 2000 World Series) is that Clemens was capable of getting angry enough to throw a bat at someone! When Mike Piazza broke his bat on a Clemens pitch, Clemens proceeded to pick up a shard of the broken bat that landed near the pitcher’s mound and throw it at Piazza as he jogged up the first-base line. Many now suspect that Clemens throwing the bat was an example of “roid range” in light of recent allegations that the one-time lock hall of famer used Human Growth Hormone.

Terrel Owens

Terrell Owens has had the pleasure of annoying teammates on every team he’s played for thus far - the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Dallas Cowboys. His tenure with the Eagles was especially contentious, as indicated by this quote from Fox Sports. “NFL Insider Jay Glazer gives the story of T.O.’s locker room fight. After trading punches in the training room, the suspended wide receiver challenged the entire locker room. Owens actually fought Pro Bowl defensive end and current Eagles ambassador Hugh Douglas in the team’s rehab room late Thursday and then issued a challenge to fight several other teammates afterward.”

Ben Wallace

Ben Wallace was mentioned earlier as the Detroit Pistons player who shoved Ron Arest, setting off the biggest brawl in NBA history. This outburst was not the first however, as “Big Ben Wallace” already had quite a reputation for aggressive play and a hot temper. Of course, Wallace’s supporters will be quick to point out that his style of play is not without merit, having earned him a record-tying four NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards. (Dikembe Mutumbo is the co-record holder.)

Chad Johnson

Chad Johnson is another hot-headed NFL wide reciever, currently playing for the Cincinnati Bengals. The video below shows Johnson getting into a fight with teammates (namely Madieu Williams) at Bengals’ training camp in August, 2007. The scuffle eventually became so brutal that the two had to be physically separated by other teammates, and needless to say, the rest of the day’s training camp activities were tainted by the animosity Johnson stirred up.

Adam “Pacman” Jones

Adam “Pacman” Jones has such a reputation for on-field (and off-field) nastiness that the NFL only recently re-instated him from suspension as an eligible player. He had previously been suspended an entire year for various off-field incidents and problems. That being the case, one would think Jones would be eager to prove himself as a changed man upon return. Sadly, the plan isn’t going so well, as Jones was found to have been involved in a fight with one of his own bodyguards in October 2008 - one night before a scheduled meeting with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell!

Alonzo Mourning

“Zo” is often remembered for his role in the New York Knicks vs. Miami Heat bench-clearing brawl in the 1998 NBA playoffs. While the fight began as a squabble between Mourning and Knicks forward Larry Johnson, perhaps the most remembered image of the whole ordeal is Knicks head coach Jeff Van Gundy clinging to Mourning’s leg and trying to break the fight up. Both Mourning and Johnson were suspended for starting the fight, and Mourning later apologized for “losing his cool.”

Juan Marichal

We’ve already seen catchers take the heat for their battery mate throwing inside at batters. Unfortunately, Dodgers catcher Johnny Roseboro may have suffered even more than the backstop unlucky enough to be catching behind Izzy Alcantara. When Hall of Fame pitcher Juan Marichal got plunked at the plate, he promptly turned around brought his bat down on Roseboro’s head, presumably thinking that Roseboro called for the inside pitch. Of course, baseball’s rules on fighting were a bit more lax in 1965 than they are today; Marichal was fined $1,750 and suspended for only 8 games.

Pedro Martinez

As we’ve seen with many of the above athletes, on-field competitiveness can easily translate to aggression. That’s what happened to former Red Sox pitcher Pedro Martinez during an on-field brawl in 2003 against the Yankees. During the brawl, Pedro was charged by Don Zimmer (the Yankees’ 72 year old pitching coach) who he promptly threw onto the ground. Martinez is also a famously aggressive pitcher whom many believe hits batters on purpose, to establish control of the strike zone. (He was once quoted as saying, after hitting an opposing player, “if he wants to cry, let him cry.”) Supporters of that theory point to Martinez’s very high number of hit batters and otherwise impeccable control, suggesting he is perfectly capable of not hitting batters and simply chooses to do so anyway.

Kyle Farnsworth

Kyle Farnsworth could be called a “serial fighter”, as he has now been at the forefront of two bench-clearing brawls for members of two different baseball teams. The 6′3, 250lb+ pitcher got his earliest hot-head stripes as a member of the Chicago Cubs, when he speared opposing pitcher Paul Wilson flat onto his back. Farnsworth was suspended 3 games for his misconduct, but it was just two years later when he body-slammed Kansas City Royals pitcher Jeremy Affeldt in much the same way! Farnsworth, by this time a Detroit Tiger, was ejected from the game, but not suspended this time. He has retained his hot-head status well into the present, having been accused of throwing at Manny Ramirez toward the end of the 2008 season.

Dennis Rodman

Cross dressed and rebound extraordinaire Dennis Rodman was known for his aggressive style of play during his accomplished NBA career. He was frequently ejected from games for hard fouling players and even made a semi-regular occurance of physically assaulting the referees. The NBA never quite knew what to expect from Rodman, with his dyed hair, wild tattoos and eccentric personality. Rodman was also quite the hot-head outside of basketball, participating in World Championship Wrestling and Ultimate Fighting Championship matches on separate occasions.

Bill Goldberg

Wrestling is supposed to be fake, right? Tell that to Bill Goldberg, the former WCW star who slashed tendons in his arm after slamming it into a plate glass limousine window as part of an on-screen stunt. While Goldberg was not supposed to be actually injured (only fictitiously), the glass did indeed penetrate deep enough into his skin to cause serious damage. The injury kept him out of wrestling for nearly a year, though he did eventually make a full recovery. Goldberg is also well-known for ending icon Bret Hart’s wrestling career by kicking him in the face during a match.

Wearing Trash 10 Recycled Jewelry Designs That Demand Attention

Recycled jewelry by Wired

“One man’s trash is another woman’s treasure” - especially when that trash is made into jewelry! Recycled jewelry is popping up everywhere, and the materials used to create it is just as amazing as the jewelry itself. From industrial trash thrown away in Chicago to bicycle inner tubes in Holland, recycled jewelry is eco-chic, handmade, and planet-friendly

Yesterday’s News, Today’s Jewelry

Comic strip bracelet by NewspaperJewelry

Recycled newspaper comics are the start of this intriguing bracelet by NewspaperJewelry. The paper is sealed with a nontoxic, water-resistant coating and paired with Swarovski crystal and faceted glass. Holly Anne Mitchell creates an assortment of newspaper jewelry from old coupons, losing lottery tickets, stock listings, and sweetener packets.

Sprains and Fractures = New Earrings

X-ray earrings by UpcycledJewelry

Rescued computer components, remnant glass from windows and doors, and even abandoned x-rays are common materials for UpcycledJewelry designs. All materials are saved from the landfill by the designer and typically come from foreclosed homes that require cleanup.

New Use for an Old Board

Skateboard earrings by 2ReVert

The husband and wife team behind 2ReVert handcraft recycled jewelry from skateboards that are no longer travel-worthy. Each piece is unique and carries an unknown story of where it’s been and what it’s seen. Cuff links, skateboard coasters, and belt buckles are also part of the 2ReVert line.

Industrial Waste-Not

Indutrial waste and liquor bottles by Wired

Also available in black and white, these eco-chic earrings are handmade by Wired Jewelry. This piece is made from the rubber labels of liquor bottles, collected from a local club, and fastened with metal scraps from a nearby recycling facility. Wire, rubber, transistors, and other commercial junk are picked up from various businesses in Chicago before becoming the sole materials for Wired’s recycled jewelry.

Need a Pencil?

Pencil earrings by tomatedepingles

Buttons, feathers, fabric scraps, and photo negatives make up many of tomatedpingles’s recycled jewelry. This particular pair of earrings is obviously made from the top and bottom of a pencil - the cool thing is, both pieces work so you never have to worry about having a pencil (just be careful not to break the lead)!

What do You do with an Old Bike Tire?

Inner tube necklace by Sasja Saptenno Photo by Raoul Matulessy Photography

Sasja Saptenno of Holland makes recycled jewelry with them! Saptenno saves used bike tires from a life in the landfill, picking the tubes up from friends, family, and local shops, then creates unique necklaces and bracelets. She also crafts colorful, textured shawls from discarded plastic bottles.

Recycled Watch Rings

Steampunk line by dustDesignCo

dustDesignCo has found a creative way to give new life to vintage watches by handcrafting them into one-of-a-kind recycled jewelry. The Steampunk collection features 55 unique pieces, all made from the insides of classic timepieces. dustDesignCo also makes jewelry from lost LA transit tokens, vintage spirit labels, antique car parts, and other cool junk destined for the dirt.

Recycled Music

Recycled earrings by Lee Palmer

This intriguing design was an entry into the “Don’t Trash That Art!” contest sponsored by the Baton Rouge recycling office. The earrings salvage old vinyl records as well as used guitar strings. Materials used in other entries include lipstick lids, candy wrappers, bottle caps, fishing lure, and more.

Jewelry to Eat On

Recycled dish necklace by Olive Barn

Blue willow China was a fine dining staple in homes everywhere throughout the 20th century. This piece comes from a pink willow dish originally manufactured in the 1960’s. The Olive Barn features recycled glass jewelry, handmade by Laura Bergman. Each piece of glass is a rescued fragment from old dumping sites in Pennsylvania - pieces that are typically left behind by vintage collectors. Depression glass, antique Noxema bottles, and the above willow dishes are a few of her choice materials.

Retired Strings Transformed to Jewelry

Piano string choker by Strings - and a Dare

Another innovative design based on music, Strings…and a Dare creator Xavier Symown began her recycled jewelry career as a tribute to a musical colleague after his death. She brings new purpose to worn out instrument strings by crafting them into necklaces, bracelets, rings, and more. Xavier works with piano, guitar, and bass stings, as well as violin, viola, and cello strings.

Outstanding Wall Paintings

The Balcons de Barcelona is a mural of 450 m2 on a dividing wall of a building, where by means of the technique of trompe-l'oeil, it imagines a group of outstanding personalities in the life of the city at different times from his history such as Joaquim Blume, CristĂłbal ColĂłn, Santiago Rusiñol, Joan MirĂł, Pablo Picasso, and many others. It was created in 1992.

35 Greatest Works of Reverse Graffiti

Welcome to the world of reverse graffiti, where the artist’s weapons are cleaning materials and where the enemy is the elements: wind, rain, pollution and decay. It’s an art form that removes dust or dirt rather than adding paint. Some find it intriguing, beguiling, beautiful and imaginative, whereas others look upon it in much the same way as traditional graffiti – a complete lack of respect for the law. Reverse graffiti challenges ideals and perceptions while at the same time shapes and changes the environment in which we live, whether people think for the better, or not.

We thought we’d compile a collection of some of the most incredible works of reverse graffiti and the artists behind them for your viewing pleasure.

Moose: The Original Reverse Graffiti Artist

Real name, Paul Curtis, Moose is the grand-daddy of reverse graffiti. He’s been cleaning the streets of the UK and beyond for around ten years.

Using detergent and a wire brush, the tools of many a cleaner, he works with advertisers to create innovative clean messages and slogans that inevitably turn into works of art. One of his more recent works, the Reverse Graffiti Project, was on San Francisco’s Broadway tunnel in conjunction with Green Works, to promote a plant-based cleaner.

Scott Wade: Reverse Graffiti on Cars

Taking the scribbles of many a budding graffiti artist to new heights, Scott Wade decorates the back of dusty car windows with much more intricate works of art than the usual ‘Wash Me’. He lives very near a dirt road covered in caliche – a mixture of limestone dust, gravel and clay – which, when driven over throws up a fine, white dust, covering the cars which he then decorates using plain, ordinary artist brushes, and the effects are amazing.

Football legend, Ronaldinho.

The infamous Poker Dogs redone.

Pets go crazy.

Alexandre Orion – Skulls in Sao Paolo

Hailing from Brazil, Alexandre sees his art work as a way of getting an environmental message across to those who ordinarily wouldn’t listen. A few years ago he adorned a transport tunnel in Sao Paolo with a mural consisting of a series of skulls to remind drivers of the detrimental impact their emissions have on the planet.

The Brazilian authorities were incensed but couldn’t actually charge him with anything so they instead cleaned the tunnel. At first the cleaned only the parts Alexandre had cleared but after the artist switched to the opposite wall they had to clean that too. In the end, the authorities decided to wash every tunnel in the city, missing the irony completely, it seems.

Hottest Student Bodies Top 50 Universities Ranked By Looks

50. Illinois

Nothing better than a hot girl who is also smart, and the University of Illinois embraces that belief to the fullest. A creative student at UofI put together a “Girls of Engineering” for the 2007 year and the picture above graced the cover. Sign me up for the 2008 edition.

49. Missouri

University of Missouri women love their football, and they had a lot to cheer about this past season when the Tigers finished fifth in the country. And we have a lot to cheer about when it comes to fans that look like the two above.

48. Pacific

The University of the Pacific has been the setting for many Hollywood movies, including Raiders of the Lost Ark. Which I’m sure is what brings in the hotties. That or the beautiful California weather. Either way, Pacific boasts a 58% female population, making it an ideal setting for any guy.

47. Maryland

Like any big public university you’ve got a deep pool of female undergrads to choose from. Many of whom probably chose the University because they couldn’t get into Georgetown (not to mention the allure of the cute turtle mascot). This can be a good thing.

46. Oregon State

Oregon State features the reigning Playmate of the Year in Sara Jean Underwood. If the cream of the crop is that good the rest can’t be all that bad.

45. Virginia Tech

If a science or math geek is your kind of girl, then don’t look any further than a Polytechnic Institute. Wikipedia says the “agriculture, engineering, architecture, forestry, and veterinary medicine departments” are considered the strongest at Virginia Tech, and you can’t tell me that a girl who is into forestry wouldn’t be a good time.

44. Louisville

A Louisville cheerleader had a scandal last fall, pretty much right out of every guy’s biggest fantasy. Graphic photos of Becca Manns began popping up in Google Image searches and on porn sites, allegedly stolen from a lost memory stick that belonged to her camera. So UofL has some fairly awesome cheerleaders, enough to land them here on our list. (And no, the girl above isn’t Becca Manns, but you’ll find her picture at the link below!)

43. Indiana

Everyone loves the corn fed midwestern girls, including Newsweek who recently named Indiana University “the hottest big state school in the nation”. I’m not sure they were talking about the same thing we’re discussing here, but it works.

42. TCU

Which to believe, the “Christian” or the mascot which might as well be called a horny toad? Either way, there’s nothing wrong with a nice girl going through her wild college phase, and there are plenty of hot girls at TCU doing just that.

41. Washington State

The girls of Pullman are are very solid, and the school is blessed with some of the hottest cheerleaders in the country (as you can see above).

40. Stanford

Stanford girls get an unfair reputation for being bookish and not all that attractive, but if you want to date a future political power player or high profile attorney this is the place to go. And power (not to mention money) is pretty hot.

39. Iowa

University of Iowa girls are stereotypically innocent and pure of heart, possibly because of all the stereotypical corn they are eating. But then again there’s the old stereotype about the farmer’s daughter … which to believe?

38. Purdue

Purdue and Indiana probably should have been tied for this list, but we’ll give the edge to Purdue based on the slightly higher perceived intelligence.

37. Penn State

The girls here live in a place called Happy Valley. The name holds up. Plus they can apparently hold things with their feet, which is weirdly awesome.

36. Oklahoma

Oklahoma girls clearly know how to dress for a football game. Major points for that.

35 Nebraska

When even the mascot mentions corn I think you know what you’re getting into here. More with the wholesome and sweet.

34 Colorado

Hot girls aren’t just attracted to beaches and sunshine, they also love the snow. The University of Colorado has had a ski club since 1933, and it’s the largest collegiate ski club in the country.

North Carolina State

North Carolina State suffers in comparison to its rival in Chapel Hill, but it shouldn’t because the girls here are top notch. North Carolina must be a great place to go to school pretty much no matter what college you choose to attend.

Michigan

Michigan is one of the finer public schools in the country, so not only will you find some hot girls, she’ll probably be able to hold a conversation with you.

Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt spends much of its time getting pushed around the SEC, what with it being the token “smart” school in the conference, but its women manage to hold their own. You get a particularly wealthy and cultured type of southern girl at Vanderbilt. Also, most of the girls are in sororities, which means they are probably easy and drunk most of the time. Or maybe I’ve watched too many college movies, one or the other.

Duke

I’m sure Dick Vitale would have Duke’s women #1 in the land, but I think this is pretty fair. I’m sure Duke fans will be upset when they see further down the list that North Carolina has trumped them again.

 Utah

Everyone knows it I think, Mormon girls are generally pretty hot. But I’m guessing you get a slightly less crazy student body at Utah than you do at BYU, which is why we went with the Utes for our list.

 North Carolina

Powder blue is a good color on most girls, and UNC co-eds wear it especially well. They also have a reputation as being slightly less bookish than their Duke counterparts, which, for the purposes of this list anyway, is a good thing.

 Michigan State

Michigan State girls have the reputation of being a little slower than their Michigan sisters who go to school in Ann Arbor. But who cares when they look like this? I’d definitely prefer to find myself in Lansing.

UNLV

You know that girls attending college in Sin City are going to be hot. Common sense would suggest the student stripper population is probably higher at UNLV than any other college in the country.

Tennessee

From Rocky Top:

Once I had a girl on Rocky Top,
Half bear the other half cat;

Pretty much sums it up.

Ohio State

Ohio State is usually the largest University in the country (sometimes slipping to number two behind Texas), so it’s pretty much impossible not to find gorgeous girls. When you’ve got a sample size of 25k+ you’re always going to be in good shape.

 Kentucky

Kentucky girls are some of the sweetest you’ll ever find, and if you’re a basketball fan then these girls are right up your alley because they are probably more basketball crazy than any other college in the country. Legend has it they make pretty sweet mint juleps too.

Wisconsin

When I started this list I had Wisconsin buried in the bottom half of this list, but I had to bump them after seeing picture after picture of ridiculously hot Badger women. Maybe its the cheese, I’m not sure. But they certainly earned their bump.

Arizona

I never thought of Arizona as a hot girl mecca, but apparently I should have. Arizona women are smoking hot, appropriately enough for the climate.

South Florida

Surprising fact not too many people probably realize: USF is the ninth largest school in the country, as measured by student population. Not so surprising fact: lots and lots of hot girls go to USF, drawn by the gorgeous Tampa weather.

 Washington

The Huskies features lots of hot back to nature type of girls who are attending the school because of the beautiful natural setting. Mt. Ranier is visible from campus, and the school sits at the edge of the Union and Portage Bays.

Alabama

Getting seriously into the stereotypical southern college girl when it comes to the University of Alabama, and that’s a good thing. These girls are nearly always in tip top shape and looking their best, leading to their high ranking. They wear dresses to football games, what more can you ask for?

University of Miami (FL)

Like UCLA, Miami’s campus is located in a place known for its beautiful women. This definitely extends to the campus as tons of hot girls are drawn to attend by the Miami sunshine.

 Kansas

Jayhawk women are as passionately invested in their basketball teams as anyone else around, and while their beauty is of the salt of the earth country variety it can’t be downplayed. Kansas is unfairly maligned as flyover country, but you’re missing out on some real gems if you think that way.

Clemson

We’re going to establish pretty clearly in this list that southern girls are pretty hot, and Clemson girls are a great example. Kind of a middle of the pack ACC school, but they have some of the hottest women in the conference. Major bonus points for their knockout cheerleaders.

Cal

Cal has a long tradition of being a politically active campus, so if you’re into the save the world types you’ll probably find a girl right up your alley in Berkeley. Plus pole vaulting internet legend Allison Stokke goes there, so that’s a pretty big plus.

Arkansas

Anyone who has lived in the south can tell you about southern girls, and they are still plenty hot even in states that have less than stellar reputations. Hoo pig sooey! But totally in a good way.

 Texas

One word: chaps. They make for some of the hottest cheerleaders in the country. Like Ohio State, the University of Texas is absolutely massive, so no matter your taste in women you’ll be able to find it here.

Oregon

Oregon is supposedly one of the healthiest states in the country, and you can absolutely see that represented with its college women. The Ducks football jerseys take a lot of heat, but in my opinion they actually work on females. The colors especially look great on Ducks cheerleaders.

Louisiana State University

Cajun girls have irresistible accents that make them extra attractive. LSU also has great cheerleaders, and their marching band even gets into the act, featuring a subunit called the LSU Golden Girls.

University of Georgia

There’s still a lot of Scarlett O’Hara in Georgia girls. Like most southern women they take a huge amount of pride in their appearance, so it’s unlikely you’re going to see Bulldog girls wearing sweatpants and baggy sweatshirts all that often. Which is a definite plus.

Auburn University

Another southern school with girls who know how to look good, Auburn features a huge number of Sorority girls (34 percent of Auburn women pledge). Fall Saturdays features all kinds of hot Auburn girls on display, especially during the “Tiger Walk”, a tradition where fans line Donahue Drive to cheer on the team as they walk from Sewell Hall to the Auburn football stadium.

. UCLA

Los Angeles features some of the most beautiful women on earth, in small part thanks to UCLA women. Great cheerleaders and an area with tons of girls who want to end up in the entertainment industry equals a pretty high rating.

South Carolina

It’s really hard to resist cracking a Gamecocks joke here (even harder than avoiding a “Crimson Tide” one above), so I’ll just say South Carolina women easily live up to their reputation as gorgeous Southern belles.

Ole Miss

Anyone who has spent any time in the Grove on a fall Saturday can tell you that Ole Miss is teeming with beautiful women. The football team generally has a tough time, but the girls and tailgating more than makes up for it. Plus you have to love a school where the slogan is “we may have lost the game, but we’ve never lost a party”.

 University of Florida

The University of Florida takes more pride in its women than the vast majority of schools in America. Any Google Image search with a variation of the words “University of Florida girls” will show you that, and Gator fans definitely are justified in that pride.

 Florida State University

Florida State’s athletics have fallen from prominence a bit lately, but the school still boasts some of the best looking women in America. Florida State features Uber Seminoles fan Jenn Sterger, a girl made famous simply for showing up to Florida State football games wearing very little.

University of Southern California

USC has the hottest cheerleaders, hands down, in the country, and that excellence filters down to the rest of the student body. You really can’t lose going to school at either of the major Los Angeles universities.

Arizona State University

When first making this list, USC was slotted in at the top, but after doing some research it became clear that Arizona State was going to have to be #1. Arizona State girls seemingly go to great lengths at sporting events to outdo one another when it comes to hotness, which is great since we all benefit from their competitiveness. A website/calendar company called Tempe12 started by selling a calendar filled with hot Arizona State women out of a guy’s bedroom, and was so successful its now a large and thriving business. That tells you everything you need to know.

Let’s face it, the one thing pictures of hot chicks lacks is all the sexy motion. But no more! Using a 3D physics engine, Wobble allows you to add wobbling motions to any photo by overlaying a “wire frame” onto the photo, which morphs the pixels, allowing the iPhone’s accelerometer to make the pixels moves. Sure, it’s seems complicated, but all this happens with a few easy finger taps. And voila! Now that picture of your friend’s hot mom has the sexy motion it deserves.

Elite Text

Say you met a girl the night before at a bar, somehow managed to get her number and the next day you want to send her a cheeky text message to get her attention but your hangover-hammered brain can’t think of a single thing to type. That’s where Elite Text comes in. This simple little ditty generates all types of sexy, funny, flirtatious messages for you to send over to that sexy someone. Just don’t let her find out you’re taking your lines from a F’ing iPhone app, or your chances of getting to real sexy time are practically nil.

iSteam

Even if you’re not looking for “sexy” iPhone apps, this high-quality app is cool - er, hot! Basically, it makes your iPhone’s screen look like the bathroom mirror after a hot shower. But it’s not just for looks. To haze-up the screen, just blow into your phone’s mic. You can then do anything to the screen that you can do with a real steamy mirror, like write messages, or clear away just enough to show sexy photos underneath, or write a secret message to a girl, hand her the phone and have her blow into the mic to reveal your message. The damn thing even squeaks when you rub your finger across the screen.

iPickupLines

When you’re out at a bar, the hardest part of chatting up that super hottie is breaking the ice - which is exactly where iPickupLines comes in. Similar to Elite Text, this app provides you with pick-up lines and icebreakers to get the conversation flowing. So instead of stumbling over your own dumbass lines (or not having the creative juices to come up with any in the first place), this simple app will feed you funny, sometimes clever one-liners that will hopefully help you land her in the sack. But beware, if she catches you checking your phone before trying to pick her up, it’s game over from the get-go.

Bikini Blast

If you like super hot chicks in bikinis, which you most definitely do, then this is the app for you. Unlike a lot of iPhone apps that offer useful services like maps, currency conversions or, um, fart noises (?), Bikini Blast is an unadulterated flow of sexy iPhone backgrounds of hundreds of hot chicks wearing bikinis. New photos are added everyday. But unfortunately, iTunes won’t allow any topless pics, so that’s a definite bummer. But so what?

Exotic Adult Party Games

Sometimes, life just calls for a party game. And even better times call adult party games. Thanks to Exotic Adult Party Games, you can always have a sexy game for any occasion in your pocket. The app includes 120 games, ranging from joke games, to sexy adult games to questionnaire games to dancing games. Unfortunately, since the iTunes app store is a fairly family friendly place, these games don’t get nearly raunchy enough for most people (us included). But remember, PG-13 fun can turn into an all-out orgy in a matter of moments. (At least in our minds it can.)

iGirl

Having a girlfriend can be tough. No only do you have to satisfy her eternally complicated hormonal ups and downs, but you have to have enough game to get a girlfriend in the first f**king place. But not anymore! Damn near better than the real thing, iGirl is a virtual 3D girlfriend that will do (pretty much) anything you say, from talking to dancing. With tons of built-in commands, iGirl allows you to tickly your iGirl, have her strike sexy poses and even gives you the ability to create custom commands. Unfortunately, “blow job” isn’t one of them…

Hooters Calendar Slider

Similar to the Bikini Blast app, the Hooters Calendar Slider takes the simple concept of “hot chicks wearing nearly nothing is awesome” and brings it to the iPhone in a simple yet satisfying app. But this time, instead of just backgrounds, the Hooters Calender Slider combines their sexy, top-heavy babes with the classic slider puzzle tile game to give you hours of fun. The game includes 60 levels of Hooters girls, 3 levels of difficulty and the ability to turn the solved puzzle images into super-sexy backgrounds.

iJiggly•Bikini

Whether you admit it or not, (and why you wouldn’t is beyond us), playing with boobs is at the very top of quality activities. And now you can do it on your iPhone. Sure, it’s not exactly the same, but it’s as close as a digital version can get (so far). Similar to the Wobble app, iJIggly adds some much-needed sexy motion to your iPhone. The app originally comes with a wobbly Jello mould, but can be easily updated to add a nice set of wiggly lady bits. But remember, if an actual girl catches you playing with this thing, expect to be spending a good bit of time alone with Mr. Hand.

Hooters Calendar Girls Crazy Eights

Just like the Hooters Calendar Slider, Hooters Calender Girls Crazy Eights takes an old game and makes it 21st Century sexy by putting the lovely ladies of Hooters on the backs of the playing cards in this asstastic version of crazy eights. But unlike your grandpa’s pack of playing cards, this one has tons of different girls to choose from and gets better every time they update the app.

International Beauty - 30 Countries, 30 Women

Traveling to another country is not something that the majority of us can do on a regular basis. As a consequence, we probably end up missing a whole lot of foreign beauty!

In order to solve that problem, we decided to compile this International Hot Women Roundup, hand picking 30 of the hottest women from 30 different countries. Oui mon cherry!

France – Laetitia Casta

We love French women (and the way they kiss too). Laetitia was born in Pont Audemer, 1978. Being a model and actress, her fame exploded after she became the official face of L’Oreal and Channel. On top of that she also appeared on over 100 magazine covers.

Canada - Natalie Glebova

Natalie was born in Russia, but she also has Canadian citizenship and used to live there (until recently when she moved to Thailand). She is a classical pianist, model and beauty queen. In 2005 she won the Miss Universe title.

China – Zhang Ziyi

Do you remember Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon? Yes that was her. At the age of 29, she is definitely one of the most talented – and hottest – Chinese actresses around.

New Zealand – Kylie Bax

Kylie was born in 1975, and after years on the modeling career, she is now trying to become an actress. The wonderful blond has also appeared on several magazines around the world, including Vogue, Maxim and Vanity Fair.

Czech Republic – Daniela Pestova

Born in 1970, her career as a model took off when she moved first to Paris and afterwards to New York. She has been featured in several magazines, including Sports Illustrated and GQ, and she is also famous for her appearances on Victoria’s Secret.

Ukraine - Milla Jovovich

Apart from being beautiful, she is also talented. Milla is an international model, actress, musician and fashion designer. Luckily for us, one doesn’t need to know how to pronounce her surname in order to get delight from her pictures.

Hungary - Bea Hargitai

Hungary is the land of voluptuous blond women, and Bea is no exception. She was born in 1983, and she has already been feature in the Hungarian edition of the FHM and Playboy magazines. Too bad we can’t buy those over the Internet.

Sweden - Paulina Porizkova

Paulina was born in the Czech Republic, 1965, but since we already had that slot filled (see Daniela Pestova on position 26), and since she also has a Swedish citizenship, we decided to include her here. Not that any men from Sweden would get pissed, especially after taking a look at her pictures.

United States - Rebecca Alie Romijn

At the beginning of her career she was a model, getting featured on Sports Illustrated and Victoria’s Secret. After that she started to work as an actress (the hottest X-Men to date). Magazines like FHM and Maxim include her year after year among the most beautiful women in the world. No kidding!

Japan - Reon Kadena

Asian girls with great bodies… many a man’s fantasy. Reon is 22 years old and she is already an idol in Japan. She used to do nude photography and videos, but she stopped once her popularity increased. Damn.

Holland – Doutzen Kroes

Doutzen has already been included in the fashion campaigns of several prestige houses like Dolce & Gabana, Valentino and Versace. Delicious, what can I say?

Venezuela - Yolibeth Ortiz

Through out the years I have met several Venezuelan girls, and there was one trait that unified all of them: they were hot! I don’t know what mothers give to their daughters to eat when they are young there, but apparently it makes all of them stunningly beautiful. Oh yeah about Yolibeth, she is a model and is 25 years old.

England – Naomi Campbell

Perhaps the most famous model in the World, Naomi has appeared on over 500 magazine covers. She is 37, but surprisingly as beautiful as ever. If you like women with a strong (sometimes even aggressive) character, then you won’t find anyone to top Naomi.

South Korea – Sung Hi Lee

Born in Seoul, 1970, she moved to the United States when she was 8 years old. She appeared in Playboy magazine several times, and also has shown up in soft erotic movies. We can’t complain.

 Australia – Miranda Kerr

Miranda was the first Aussie to appear on Victoria’s Secret Angels edition. We can see why. According to Wikipedia she has 22 or 24 years… interesting. Anyway, regardless of her age, she is damn hot, and that is all we need to know.

India - Aishwarya Rai

Beautiful eyes on an angelical face. The famous Indian actress won the Miss World title in 1994, and she has appeared on dozens of Bollywood movies. I remember seeing her on the film The Last Legion. She was hot as usual, but film was crap so don’t waste your time.

Spain – Ariadne Artiles

I must confess, slim girls with large breasts represent my deepest weakness. I would get down to my knees and bow at their feet if they desired. Ariadne was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. At the age of 23, she has become one of the most acclaimed Spanish models.

Argentina – Maria Susini

Joder, mira esto! We were fans of Argentinean girls already, but after we saw Maria it became devotion. She is an actress, but for all we care she could just stand in the middle of a town square blessing the view of those who pass by.

Russia - Natalia Vodianova

Natalia is 26 years old, but she looks much younger. This juvenile beauty transformed her into one of the highest-earning models in the world. She is married and already has 3 children (too late for the rest of us).

Italy – Federica Ridolfi

I had the pleasure to be in Italy when this girl started appearing on a television soccer program. Sure I like soccer, but I would have watched the program religiously even if it was about softball…. One of the most unbelievable bodies you will ever come across, trust me. Those two things should be considered a patrimony of humanity (if only UNESCO knew…).

Colombia – Sofia Vergara

Sofia was casually discovered by a talent hunter while she was on a Colombian beach. After that encounter she became a model in Colombia, and recently moved to the United States to begin an acting career. She is also one of the latinas that sells lots of those pinup calendars. No wonder, right.

Portugal - Cláudia Vieira

Claudia Vieira is a soap opera actress, and very famous in her homeland. At the age of 28, she definitely raises the audience ratings whenever she is on TV … just gorgeous!

Nigeria – Oluchi Onweagba

Oluchi Onweagba is from the African country of Nigeria and just drop dead gorgeous. She was born in Lagos, 1980, and currently she lives in New York where she work as a model for several fashion houses. Her first name means “God’s Work.” We would like to second that!

Switzerland - Michelle Hunziker

When we say Switzerland you will probably think “green mountains, cows, and chocolate”. Well, not anymore. Switzerland is also the land of beautiful (and tall) blond women, and Michelle illustrates it perfectly. She is an actress, model and television personality in Italy and Germany.

 Israel – Bar Rafaeli

Before turning one years old, baby Bar Rafaeli was already modeling. Talk about starting early…. She has being featured in several magazines like Sports Illustrated and Maxim, and she is also supposed to be in a relationship with actor Leonardo Di Caprio (yeah, I am also wondering what he has that I don’t).

Denmark - Helena Christensen

Things are starting to get really hot eh? Helena has worked with several fashion companies, including Victoria’s Secret. She is supposed to have an addiction to cheese. Hmm, not sure if using a Gorgonzola scented deodorant on my armpits would help us out.

Serbia - Ana Ivanovic

Yeah, we also love Ana Kournikova and Maria Sharapova, but Ana Ivanovic is our pick for Serbia. She was born in Belgrade, 1987, and she is currently ranked as the number 2 tennis player in the world.

Cuba – Vida Guerra

Vida became an instant hit when she appeared on the American version of FHM in 2002. In 2005 a supposed naked picture of Vida leaked. She said the pictures were of another woman, and to prove her point, she decided to pose nude for Playboy in 2006. Now that is an argument we can’t protest against.

Germany – Heidi Klum

Heidi is a supermodel, actress, designer, artist, singer and television presenter. Well, not only that, she is also one of the hottest things we have ever seen walking on to two legs. Just take a look at her pictures and tell us if we are wrong.

Brazil – Adriana Lima

God, oh god! Adriana is absolutely stunning. If that was not enough, she is also still a virgin. No joking, she is very religious and claimed she will wait for her marriage. I mean, put together such a gorgeous woman with the virtue of purity and you get what? An angel!
